What AutomateNow does well
- HubSpot tier depth. Diamond is HubSpot's third-highest tier. They have HubSpot-team access, escalation paths and probably HubSpot accreditations (Onboarding, Custom Integration, Data Migration) that come with the badge.
- HubSpot Workflows expertise. Specific deep familiarity with HubSpot's automation primitives — lifecycle stages, lead scoring, deal-stage triggers, sequences.
- UK presence with HubSpot focus. Many HubSpot partners are global; having a UK-resident Diamond partner means UK-context advice on data residency, GDPR, etc.
For a UK business committed to HubSpot, AutomateNow is a credible choice.
How Watermelon is structurally different
1. Independence vs HubSpot Diamond economics
HubSpot's Diamond tier earns its agencies recurring commission on referred HubSpot subscriptions. The percentage isn't always public but is in the 10–25% range on ARR depending on tier (Diamond is meaningful). For a year-long Diamond-tier engagement on a £30k/year HubSpot subscription, that's £3k–£7.5k recurring revenue.
That's a legitimate business model. It does mean Diamond partners have a structural reason to recommend keeping or upgrading HubSpot — even when 'downgrade Marketing Hub Pro back to Starter' or 'move Service Hub off HubSpot' might be the right answer for the client.
Watermelon takes no HubSpot commissions. We work in HubSpot when it's the right tool, recommend Salesforce or Pipedrive when they fit better, and tell clients to downgrade HubSpot tiers if they're paying for unused features.
2. 'Automation' framing vs HubSpot framing

That's not a criticism: a HubSpot-anchored business positioning as 'automation' is sound marketing. But buyers should understand the underlying commercial model before committing.
Watermelon is genuinely cross-platform — Make.com, n8n, HubSpot, Salesforce, Zapier, Airtable, Notion, custom integrations. HubSpot is one of many tools we work in, not the centre of gravity.
3. Project + retainer vs fractional CAO
AutomateNow runs project-based engagements with retainer options, in the standard HubSpot Solutions Partner model. Watermelon's primary engagement is fractional Chief Automation Officer — embedded ongoing senior automation leadership across whatever tools fit, on a monthly retainer.
